Caesars Entertainment’s opens WSOP site in Nevada

Caesars Entertainment, the owners of the WSOP brand, went live for a short period of time recently. This saw a number of players able to register at the new poker room and deposit as well as begin to play. This was an error in the system that was not supposed to allow for deposits and real money play.

Caesars Entertainment chose to open the site at the same time as the WSOP Main event started. The poker room is available in both a windows version and a mac friendly version. It includes software for verification of player ages and location. Currently only those who are permanent residences of Nevada may register and play. The poker room was launched to greet a wide audience of people but once the issue surrounding deposits was realized the company took down the site in order to correct the error.

The State of Nevada recently legalized online poker in 2012. To date there is one poker room online live in the state with several more due to open soon. The WSOP site is set to officially open in the summer of 2013 and it is expected to gain a substantial share of the online poker market in Nevada when it does.
